Sand Driving at Bausher Dunes

April 15, 2013

This weekend we took a few cars and headed to Bausher sand dunes for some fun.
Our original plan was to take the 3 hour drive down to Wahiba Sands for some proper desert fun but we heard that in Bowsher (15 mins from home) the dunes were just as good for driving on and didn’t require a whole day trip.

We weren’t disappointed at all, the sandy dunes were big and had plenty of excitement for the more adventurous sand drivers.

We went on a Friday morning so the dunes were quiet and we managed a good run at them without getting in anyone’s way and vice versa, you don’t want to go flying over a hill only to meet another car stopped having a picnic on the other side!
The danger of driving on the sand and the real possibility of rolling off a sand dune doesn’t really appeal to me so I like to tag along and take photos. Or go in the car on the way up the dune, get out at the top, and run back down the hill. Always a big kid at heart!
